Wanted: Contributions for CURRENTS!
Our theme for the next issue is HEALTH, reflecting the new FAWCO Target Project for 2019/2020.
The World Health Organization defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” What are your tips for staying physically fit—with your busy work and travel schedule? as you age? after baby or with baby? Any recipe tips for healthy eating? How do you cope with stress? How do you socially cope in a foreign environment? What are your favorite apps for keeping track of your exercise, diet, and busy life? How do you reach your goals for good health?

The American Women's Club of Hamburg, the U.S. Consulate General and the Amerikazentrum Hamburg jump-started National Women's History Month with a panel discussion on this year's theme "Visionary Women—Champions of Peace and Nonviolence" on February 28. The moderator was My-Linh Kunst and the panelists were women who are exemplary in their approaches to ending injustice in our society and empowering women to achieve their goals. It was inspiring—showing that every woman can champion a cause and fight injustice.
We were very pleased to see the event reported in the newspaper Die Welt (Source: WELT HH 06/03/2019)

And that’s not all! AWCH’s Mary W. has been awarded the FAUSA Skills Enhancement Award of $5000. With this funding from the FAWCO Foundation Mary will study German at the Goethe-lnstitut so that she can work as a volunteer to help women who have suffered abuse, such as victims of trafficking, obtain the legal assistance that they need; and to provide support so that such women understand their rights and how the law can help them. She would also liaison with their lawyers to assure their cases receive the necessary attention. Congratulations Mary and goodluck!
