A century after the passage of the 19th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, it’s worth remembering why suffragists had to fight so hard, and who was fighting against them - and remind ourselves that the work is not yet finished. Who was Alice Paul?? Learn more about this forceful suffragist who pushed the 19th Amendment out of its 42-year "sleep" to finally become a reality.
Join us to celebrate Equality Day, August 26th, at 19:00 with a private streaming of the historical drama film Iron Jawed Angels directed by Katja von Garnier. This suspenseful film is the story of what our foremothers sacrificed to give us the right to VOTE!

Full of healthy recipes collected from our members and friends, the AWCH cookbook is now available for purchase as either a hardcover version, digital version, or package deal. All profits will go to the 5. Hamburger Frauenhaus. The funds will be used to improve the health and well-being of the women and children who have found refuge from domestic violence.

As we come to the end of 2020, we can't help but reflect on the generosity of our members! With the Hamburger Tafel e.V. in dire need of food and toiletries, our members stepped up this holiday season with bags and bags and even more bags of items! On top of all the items donated, we also contributed 500 Euros to the Hamburger Tafel for additional food and toiletries. In a time of so much hardship and sadness, we hope that these donations added a bit of brightness and joy to someone's holiday season!
Join us for an exclusive Zoom screening of "In The Name Of Your Daughter" on July 15th from 7 - 9 pm (CET). We will be joined by the filmmaker Giselle Portenier for a Q&A session at the end of the film and by Tharien Van Eck, FAWCO Target Project Chair, who will give us an overview of female genital mutilation (FGM).
"In the Name of Your Daughter" is the story of very brave and inspiring girls in Tanzania. Girls as young as eight risk everything, including their lives, to follow their dreams and escape the horror of FGM. Furthermore, it is about Rhobi Samwelly, the Founder and Director of Hope for Girls and Women Tanzania who risks her own life to protect the girls.

These last few days and the past week have been nothing but devastating. We are all fighting a pandemic right now but there is an ongoing pandemic that has been dominant for too long and that is racism. The AWCH denounces systemic racism against any Black community. It’s up to us to amplify our voices, stand up in solidarity, and move forward towards a future of diversity, inclusion, and equality for all.
