Policeman Franz Eberhofer (Sebastian Bezzel) lives with his wife Susi (Lisa Maria Potthoff) and their son Pauli. Susi is a candidate to become mayor of their home in Niederkaltenkirchen. Pauli takes ballet lessons. Franz interacts between both, distributing campaign leaflets to support Susi’s election and discussing why he should buy a tutu for Pauli, which he claims is only for girls. Golf is a popular sport, until suddenly, a corpse is found lying naked and bloody at the golf club. Franz, along with his friend Rudi Birkenberger (Simon Schwarz) and the local sheriff, begin a search for the murderer.

Steckerlfisch is fish on a stick, i.e. skewer or kebab. It is also the name of a popular bar/restaurant. The head of this restaurant is, sadly, the corpse. There is a grandma, who moves into a senior citizen residence, also a housekeeper/maid from Hungary, and lots of snails. There are four motorcycles; it’s not unusual for one to land in the swimming pool. This is the tenth in a series of films all based on books, written by Rita Falk. The town of Niederkaltenkirchen is fictitious; all stories in the series were filmed in the real town of Frontenhausen in German Bavaria. The German text is spoken with a Bavarian accent. Here, it’s the excellent cast of actors which brings us to enjoy the story. (Becky T.)
