We enjoyed a great night at Parlament underneath the Hamburg Rathaus with friends and family and VIP guests such as our newest honorary member Kathrin with husband U.S. Consul General Richard Yoneoka, Sallie Chaballier the First Vice President of Communications at FAWCO and Angelika McLarren of AWC Berlin. David will talk about the tax obligations of US citizens and residents living abroad and answer questions. Topics to be covered include Foreign Earned Income Exclusion, Foreign Tax Credit, FBAR and how to file, and how to get caught up on US taxes if you are behind.

What is the AWCH Gala?

The American Women’s Club Gala is a jubilant event happening once every 10 years. Our Gala is a special occasion designed just for you: it is a lavish happening, a concert, or a party for you and your friends. We invite you to join the festivities, meet old and new friends, eat, drink, dance, have fun, and help to create the unforgettable Diamond Celebration!

 
How Black is the “Black Tie”?

For you:

Enjoy and use the occasion to wear something special: a glamorous outfit, a comfortable outfit, a galvanizing outfit: everything from an evening gown, a cocktail dress, a pantsuit, to a sophisticated pant and top combination. Just be sure the overall impression is festive and in good taste.

For him:

He is not convinced about a full tuxedo? A black, dark navy or grey suit may work. Still doubting? Make sure he wears a jacket, even if he may end up taking it off later. Most important, however, is that both of you feel comfortable, and look festive!

The Gala’s unique experience includes a reception with a welcome drink and a Japanese Drummers’ show, followed by a three-course dinner of an appetizer, choice of fish, duck or vegetarian main course, 2 glasses of wine or beer, dessert and coffee. Entertainer Love Newkirk will sing for us, and the night will flow into the morning with a DJ providing dance music to please us all.
