Mother Mary Comes to Me
By Arundhati Roy

In honor of Women’s History Month, we will be reading Mother Mary Comes to Me by
Arundhati Roy—a powerful and moving memoir that explores the lives of two
extraordinary women and their legacies.

Arundhati Roy is the Indian author and
activist who rose to international acclaim in 1997 with her novel the God of Small
Things and has remained a powerful voice on gender, politics, and culture. Her
mother, Mary Roy, was a pioneering educator and legal activist whose fights against
discriminatory inheritance laws reshaped women’s rights in India. With fearless
honesty, Roy examines motherhood, daughterhood, resistance, and the cost of being
a woman who refuses to conform.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the book club will meet at a
member’s home to discuss Roy’s memoir and share a dinner with Indian
cuisine.

Please contact Carol S directly if you would like to contribute an Indian dish.

We hope you will join us to celebrate Women’s History Month.
