Details: The Hamburg Players are very excited to present the stage adaptation of the 2010 movie The King’s Speech by David Seidler at Theater an der Marschnerstraße between 5 and 15 November. The play centres around, Bertie, or rather Albert, Duke of York, a shy man with a debilitating stammer, who is more than happy to leave the top job in the family business to his older brother David. Eventually, the new King Edward VIII abdicates the throne to be with the woman he loves. The reluctant Bertie, next in line to the throne, is forced to step into the breach. With the help of unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue and the staunch support of his wife, he attempts to overcome his speech impediment and become the king the country needs. Performance dates are 5 to 8 November and 12 to 15 November at Theater an der Marschnerstraße. More info is available here: www.hamburgplayers.de/current-production.
