A sense of beauty, religiosity, and the concepts of aesthetics, self-control, and purity that converge in Zen Buddhism characterize the Japanese tea ceremony. Gudrun Moede, tea ceremony teacher or Chajin, invites members of the AWCH to her home to gain an insight into the traditional preparation of matcha tea.
The tea ceremony will take place in German, although some English translation can be available. Participants will be kneeling in the tea room on tatami mats. Please wear a skirt (at least knee-length) or loose, soft pants that don't constrict the blood flow too much behind the knees. Don’t worry , there will be some breaks. A changing room is available. Please bring white (or light-colored) socks for the tea room.
