Writer-director, Rian Johnson succeeds in producing a modern and exhilarating plot filled with mystery and intrigue, taking us on a journey to a remote village with a closely-knit parish. A priest, Father Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) is banished as punishment to assist Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) and his parish with all their egos and woes.
A sudden death in the village leaves the residents shaken to the core. Their trust for one another is put to the test and the young priest is left to overcome this unfortunate incident. The local police in the village call on Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) for his expertise and brilliant sense of problem solving and intelligence.
This production has a darker tone compared to the two predecessors, Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022); it’s a whodunnit with a brilliant cast who all seem to be rather cynical. Benoit Blanc delivers a charming performance with his drawl and charisma; he dazzles the audience with his quick wit and humor. 140 minutes (Charís H.)
