The Hamburg Players are very excited to present the st age adaptation of the 2010 movie The King’s Speech by David Seidler at Theater an der Marschnerstraße between 5 and 15 November.

The p lay centres around, Bertie, or rather Albert, Duke of York, a shy man with a debilitating stammer, who is more than happy to leave the top job in the family business to his older brother David.  Eventually, the new King Edward VIII abdicates the throne to be with the woman he loves. The relucta nt Bertie, next in line to the throne, is forced to step into the breach. W ith the help of unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue and the staunc h support of his wife, he attempts to overcome his speech impediment and be come the king the country needs.
