eate an account at My Virtual Mission. You do not need to RSVP on the websi
te AND you can sign up via the included link TODAY! Team assignments and mi
ssion launch is on May 1!\nPlease click HERE (https://www.myvirtualmission
 .com/missions/166112/2023-awch-every-kilometer-counts-european-edition)to j
oin the AWCH Spring Challenge. You need to register for an account or sign
in if\nyou’ve participated in the past. You can also download the MyVirtual
Mission app.\n\nMy Virtual Mission is GDPR compliant, and we always protect
your personal information.\n\nThe Teams: Only two teams this year – after
two feminist women from Hamburg. You will be\nsorted into a team on May 1.
When you sign up and it asks which team you are on, choose\n“I’m not sure.”
We’ll let you know soon!\n\nLog Your Kilometers: Record your activity by s
yncing your phone or sports tracker to your\nMy Virtual Mission account. Yo
u may also enter your exercise manually. For activities that\naren’t distan
ce-based (such as spring cleaning, yoga, tennis, or gardening), you can use
this\nconversion chart.\nConnect with your Team: When you sign up online,
you will be asked if you want to be\nadded to your team’s WhatsApp group. T
his is totally optional, and the groups will be\ndifferent than previous ye
ars. You can cheer each other on and arrange activities together.\n\nReachi
ng Milestones: When your team arrives at one of the national park milestone
s, you\nwill receive an email with some fun facts about the park written es
pecially for us by a\nparticipant of this event. Participants who submit bl
urbs will earn a bonus of 75 kilometers!\nContact This email address is bei
ng protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to earn
your reward while “supplies” last.\n\nHere are the Rules:\n\n1) The admini
strator, Hannah B., will assign each AWCH member to two groups evenly\nand
randomly, with an eye to proximity of members. The wild card remains that\n
friends and family members may be recruited to join your team. Please promp
tly let\nme know if you would like to switch teams.\n\n2) If you choose to
connect your device to the MyVirtualMission app, please be sure to\nonly us
e ONE CONNECTION. (You are not required to use a tracking device, and\nmanu
al entries alone are allowed.)\n\n3) There will be friendly WhatsApp groups
for each team. Everyone is welcome – just\nlet us know on the MyVirtualMis
sion site if we should add you. You may add your\nfriends and family if you
choose.\n\n4) Kilometers must be recorded by every Sunday at midnight for
the previous week.\nPeople may join at any time, however they may only ‘bac
k’ record miles to the\nbeginning of the week they joined. The week starts
on Monday and ends on Sunday.\n\n5) Conversion Chart: Please use this docum
ent to accurately log activities that aren’t\nbased on distance or to conve
rt your miles to kilometers. Although there has been\nsome disagreement abo
ut this conversion chart in the past, it is our only way to keep\nthings co
 nsistent. www.myvirtualmission.com/downloads/guides/mvm/MVM-\nActivity-Conv
 ersion-Chart-2021-01.pdf\n\nFrequently Asked Questions:\n\n1) How do I expl
ain this to someone who has never participated in a virtual fitness\nchalle
nge? Two teams filled with AWCH members and people they love will keep\ntra
ck of their exercise, walking, biking, cleaning, gardening, etc. As team me
mbers\nexercise and move, they will enter their effort/distance into the ap
p manually or\nhave a sports watch or phone sync with it automatically. All
that effort gets\ntranslated into kilometers/miles, and the virtual token
for each of the teams moves\nalong our virtual route, visiting 20 national
parks around Europe. 10,000 km later, the\nwinning team gets to celebrate a
t Independence Day event on July 2 with a 75€\ndonation made in their honor
!\n\n2) Do you monitor for cheating? No way! But I do make sure that the li
mitations of the\nproduct are addressed. Each tracking device (sports watch
, phone, etc.) has its own\ncoding, which makes it impossible for the platf
orm to code for every exception. If\nsomeone notices duplications, I will a
ttempt to research the issue and make the\nnecessary adjustments.\n\n3) Hav
e the teams been fair? Always! Previously, we divided the entire club into
four\ngeographical teams, but some areas ended up with more people particip
ating than\nothers. This year, we will try to divide the participants into
equal teams of AWCH\nmember participants, with an eye toward proximity of y
our team members.\n\n4) Why do you let friends and family participate? This
annual event originally started\nwith two goals in mind: 1) Bring everyone
back together after Covid, when being\ntogether outside was safe, and 2) T
o introduce potential members to the club.\n*The Spring Challenge is a grea
t way to invite new members! Think of the free\nregistration as a 22% disco
unt coupon if they join the club instead of paying through\nPayHip.\n\n5) H
ow can I help? Thanks for asking! Encourage people to sign up – members and
non-\nmembers. Volunteer to write a milestone. Have fun. Call someone on y
our team that\nyou don’t know and go for a walk or bike ride together. Let
me know immediately if\nsomething is bothering you. I may not be able to re
medy it this year, but I can try\nagain next year.\n\n6) If I have an issue
with anything, who should I contact? For 2023: Hannah Bergland,\n+49-171-8
33-3351 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need Ja
vaScript enabled to view it.. (mailto:hbergland@gmail.com.)\nMany thanks to
Carol H., who was a co-admin for the last two years! Being an admin\nentai
ls hours of work setting up the course, setting up milestones, typing up ru
les,\ngetting the event publicized, on-boarding folks, troubleshooting, and
writing and\nfinding photos for each of the milestones you receive. She wa
 s unstoppable!\n
