The Veddeler Fischgaststätte has been a popular harborsi
de truck stop for fresh fish ever since it opened
in 1932. Recently t
he Hamburg city authorities announced a plan to rip it down and build a new
compound for offices and living space on the property, and this laun
ched a huge protest petition to
preserve the premises. The outcome is
still pending.
You can see this truly unique place (like a time caps
ule back 90 years, historic oven, worn tables, white
mesh curtains) f
or yourself- join us for an early lunch on Wednesday, June 1 from 11:00-12:

be outside if the weather is nice, otherwise at a table i
ndoors.
This is truly a truck stop in the middle of Veddel, near the
bridges over the Elbe, and it will be a small
adventure for you just
getting there! Watch out for trucks as you cross the parking lot.

ing out at Hovestieg. From
here it’s a very short walk: there is a wi
de sidewalk along Sieldeich that ends directly at the large parking

ot where the restaurant is located, Tunnelstrasse 70.
