On November 12th, Birgit S., her guest, Ingeborg B., Liz Sch. and I attended the preview performance of the play “Alone Together” at the English Theatre. The play begins with a couple sending their youngest son off to college. They dream of all the things they will do now that they have the house to themselves.
However, their plans for romantic meals and other creative activities change when, within a week, all three sons return home. In addition, the youngest son had invited a young woman new to the area to move into his old room while he is away at college. The play is very well written and quite amusing.
I related well to what the couple was going through, as I have had grown children return home at various times as well. Liz commented that she noticed quite a few of the audience members were younger. We both wondered what their perception of the play was. It was a very enjoyable evening, laughing at life and our relationships. It was even better to share it with a few friends of the AWC. Thanks to Birgit for organizing and hosting this event.
