Congratulations to our very own Frauke Rademacher-Heidemann for receiving the FAWCO Caroline Curtis Brown Spirit Award, which was established in 2005 in appreciation of service exemplifying spirit, inspiration, and dedication.
We are proud that both Frauke and Tracy received recognition of their dedicated FAWCO Service. Thanks to our Region 5 members and all those that shared their ideas with us at the FAWCO Conference.

I’ve got the fever and I hope it is contagious! I was so grateful when my name was called as the winner of the FAWCO raffle at the AGM! I said to myself that was a sign that I should go to Marrakesh. Later, our Board voted and thought that it was important that I attend so I quickly signed up and bought my plane ticket. I flew and roomed with Tracy to double the fun without doubling the cost. We had a great time and here are a few of the many things I would love to share with you.

As those of you who know me – or read my column – can probably imagine, I started reading avidly at an early age. Reading has always been my favorite pastime and my ultimate escape, but also much more. Reading has informed my life, not only teaching me about other places, cultures, and people, but also giving me ideas about how to live – or how not to.

Have you had enough of Traumschiff and Maischberger but cannot imagine paying hundreds of euros a year for BSkyB channels to get the latest in American television? If you just want some very interesting and entertaining television programs in English, you can enjoy “free to air.” All you need to do is buy the correct satellite dish, LNBs, satellite receiver and digital television. Once everything is installed, no more fees (except of course the German public television fees that anyone who has a TV or radio has to pay every year).
