Travel Update for German Citizens
Jennifer M writes that as of October 1, 2003, there are new travel guidelines for German citizens.

Many cities in Europe have hotels just for women that are often in great locations and cheaper than regular commercial hotels. Here are two hotels recommended by members:

The Lady's First Frauen Hotel (http://www.ladysfirst.ch) in Zürich, Switzerland, provides a luxurious environment for women only.

  • "Exclusively for women, a design hotel has been created in a beautiful turn-of-the-century building with functional, warm and stylish hotel rooms, a wellness zone with steambath and different saunas and showers, with rooms for massage and cosmetic treatments, a solarium, foot baths and a splendid roof top terrace with a panoramic view over the city, the lake and the mountains."

  • "The non-profit operating company behind the hotel has not only the aim of creating an enjoyable and relaxing alternative for the travelling business women but also creates a dozen job positions within the hotel for long-term unemployed women who thus will be re-integrated into the working process."

The Hotel Intermezzo (http://www.hotelintermezzo.de/indexe.htm) in Berlin is recommended by members Kirsten G and Mary W, who stayed there during the Berlin Film Festival in February 2003. It is located less than 10 minutes walk from Potsdamer Platz, has a great, inexpensive breakfast buffet, and is very reasonably priced.
